Though Jars Ceramistes is a family-run company that’s been around since 1857, their tableware perfectly suits contemporary needs. Their ceramics are very hard-wearing, and able to resist cracks, fading, and the stress of dishwashers and microwaves. This results from an energy-saving manufacturing process that fires only once at 1285°C rather than the standard three times. Jars factories also recycle all the water and heat used in production, keeping waste and pollution to an absolute minimum.
Jars Wabi range is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic concept, wabi-sabi, that finds beauty and tranquillity in things that are simple, imperfect, or rustic. Bowls and plates in this collection are asymmetrical and feature a glossy glaze overlaid with bits of ash along the rims and on the exteriors to create unique effects. Since each item is handcrafted, the glaze patterns will vary from piece to piece.
